Create a digital paper from a seamless tile

Overview: this tutorial will show you how to create a digital paper using a seamless tile from my Ultimate Digital Craft Packs. I put these packs together to be a little more versatile than the digital scrapbooking kits. Each pack contains coordinating seamless tiles and embellishments.

A seamless tile is basically a repeating pattern. The ones in my packs are approx. 512 pixels (square). They are perfect for card making and various other paper crafts. The patterns are a lot smaller than 12x12 digital scrapbook papers and therefore make nice delicate papers. There's lots of mix and match options combining common patterns such as checks, polka dots, flowers with contemporary and vintage designs.

If you'd like to "try before you buy", I put together a sampler for you to download: Fleur

Notes:
- this tutorial was created using Photoshop Elements 4 but can be easily adapted for Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro
- I'm assuming you have a basic understanding and knowledge of your computer re: files, folders
- you also need a good knowledge of how to use Photoshop Elements (or your own image editing software) although this tutorial really is excellent for beginners.

1. Open up a seamless tile from one of the craft packs.

2. Go to Edit | Define Pattern. Click ok to accept the pattern name

3. Now you need to create a new document the size you want your paper to be. For example, create a 12" x 12" paper or perhaps an A4. For this tutorial, I'm going to create a 12" paper. Go to File | New. Add the dimensions (in inches or pixels - pixels = 3600 at 300dpi for 12" paper size).

4. Now, we're going flood fill this new document with the pattern we made earlier. Go to Edit | Fill. In the dialogue box that comes up choose pattern and then locate the pattern you saved earlier. It should normally be at the bottom of the set of patterns as it was the last one you created.

Click ok and your new document should now be filled with the seamless tile pattern.

5. Save your paper and you're ready to use it.

Your new paper can be used for digital or paper crafting or hybrid (combination of both).

Happy Crafting!!
